“Our father who art in heaven, I know you and love you dearly, I long to know you more and more, but what I do know and am certain of is you are King, you are the creator of creations, with that being said father I still feel the need to habitually remind you of your greatness. With no existing ‘measurement’, you are still to me the ‘ruler’ of all, with no compass and GPS navigator you are the ‘founder’ of all nature and its components. Now since you are the creator of the world and are undoubtedly more than it I figure it makes sense to say you I love you, you mean the world and more to me. AMEN!!”
I mentioned it in my last piece that an opening prayer beats any opening line, and that is non-debatable on my grounds. I tend to be quite tolerable to many things, but then off-course one has to have non-tolerable zones, and a few of mine include prayer and cooking. Those who are more familiar with the author of this piece will know that he is accommodating a chef within him, among other tenants, so it’s quite natural that you assume that this where I shall discuss my kitchen experiences and perhaps share some of my secret recipes…but NO! I shall not *serious face*
I’m aware the title ‘Cook Book’ might be a bit misleading, but I’m afraid I cannot apologise for a metaphorical title. I’m guessing, or at least hoping that by now you know I’m not referring to your usual “6 portions, pinch of salt, 250grams of butter, slice dice and chop” type of cook book, “No No No’’ *shaking head and wiggling finger*”.
If I kept this suspense any longer it would begin fermenting, therefore ill cut it short and fill you in through letting you know that ‘The Cook Book’ is THE HOLY BIBLE. So now I’ve evicted ‘Suspense’ and I’ve brought in ‘Curiosity’ (wave ‘bye’ to Suspense and be polite and say ‘Hi’ to curiosity).’’
Like I said, this is not your usual cook book, check this out…this cook book has books within it, 66 books in fact. Now these books are divided into two Testaments, the Old and the New Testament, 39 in the old and 27 in the new. Unlike the cook book which is mostly written by chefs or former chefs, the bible has numerous authors, not just one or two fellows. The Bible was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit by over 40 different authors from all walks of life: shepherds, farmers, tent-makers, physicians, fishermen, priests, philosophers and kings. Despite these differences in occupation and the span of years it took to write it, the Bible is an extremely consistent and unified book.
Like your usual cook book, The Bible is about understanding. One has to understand the cooking theory, along with recipes, measurements, foods, time and servings, kind of like the same way you understand the Bible by getting to know its characters, understand its setting and follow its plot.
A cookbook is a kitchen reference that typically contains a collection of recipes. The Bible is a life reference that conveniently contains a collection of stories and principles to gradually shape us; it works as a recipe for our souls.
Chefs and culinary students who have mastered their cookbooks are able to whip out mouth-watering dishes without flipping through their pages. The more our Holy cookbook is read, the more our souls are fed and we are able to live justly and quote scripture without flipping through our holy pages.
So why is this Holy Cookbook so significant to humans? Well first of all I almost never hardly believe in coincidences, therefore I’m no position whatever to believe it’s a coincidence that The Holy Bible is the largest seller of all published books (‘Google’ it if it’s hard to believe). So why?...well it’s the only book there is that provides the Mega Meal Combo for your soul and life in general (yum yum!), with so much consistency yet written by so many authors. Which other book will provide the following teachings and techniques in one book: strength, faith, comfort, deliverance, divinity, humility, duty, joy, laws, love, awareness, insight, knowledge, praise, prayer, worship, rest, refuge, temperance, abstinence, unity, vanity, protection etc. (emphasis on the ‘etc’). All these are existing words and are existing themes and teachings in the book, I couldn’t possibly make this up, what good would it be anyway?
A subject matter I might not have mentioned is ‘Protection’, yes! This book protects us against the plots and schemes that the devil dude and he’s squad has against our lives. When it comes to protection, with this book there is no competition, Buffalo Soldiers, Guard Alert, the army and private bodyguards could join forces and still not do a job as closely good as the Holy Bible.
As much as our Holy Cookbook is the largest seller amongst all published cookbooks, it’s still a sad reality that the world isn’t truly guided by it, think of it this way, if God Almighty was a top chef and Earth was a restaurant, it would only be a mere 2 star enterprise, there’s really point in fooling ourselves into believing it’s a 5 star enterprise when we know good and well the Lords not utterly and entirely fulfilled with the way things are operating. Some chefs are using the wrong knives to chop, some are chopping what’s not meant to be chopped, and some aren’t chopping what’s meant to be chopped, and there are those who intentionally are fooling around, playing dart games with the knives, throwing lettuce at each other, not taking the necessary precautions needed in a kitchen, and God is watching all this fooling around, shaking his divine head slowly side to side. Sadly it doesn’t end there in the kitchen. What’s prepared in the kitchen must be given to waiters to serve.
So I urge each and every reader to read in between the lines of what’s going on in their lives and others, read into situations and read the Holy Cookbook. 929 chapters in the Old and 260 in the New Testament, together making 1189 chapters, it won’t kill you to read them, and even it did, wouldn’t you rather be killed by the word…(?).
